EL PASO - Police took 53-year-old Glen Sanderson into custody after A SWAT standoff in East El Paso. He was charged with 3rd degree stalking just after 3 a.m. early Tuesday morning.

Officers arrested the man shortly before 12:30 a.m Tuesday.  Members of the SWAT and Crisis Management Team entered the man's home on Dublin Rd. near Wedgewood and Album, and found him barricaded inside a room.

The incident started at about 3:30 p.m. Monday when, according to El Paso Poice Spokesman Darrel Petry, the suspect tried to force his way into another home in the neighborhood.

The suspect returned a few minutes later carrying a rifle.

When police arrived on the scene, the suspect refused to come out of his house.

The swat team entered eight and a half hours later and took the man into custody.

Petry said officers found a BB gun and a firearm inside the house.

The suspect was taken to the hospital for medical clearance, then booked into the El Paso County Jail.

Police have not released the man's name, or said what charges he will face.
