UPDATE: 2 El Paso Police officers hit by car, injured during traffic stop

EL PASO — UPDATE: Five people were taken to the hospital with injuries, including two El Paso Police officers, following a three-car accident on Saturday night.
According to investigators, the two officers were in a marked patrol car when they stopped a Cadillac on U.S. 54 North near Pershing for a traffic violation. The officers were walking toward the Cadillac when a Ford Mustang approached and crashed into the back of the police car causing a chain reaction. The police car was pushed into the Cadillac, then the Cadillac hit the two officers.
The two officers were taken to the hospital, along with the driver of the Mustang and two people inside the Cadillac.
The injured officers both work out of the Central Regional Command. One has been on the force for three months, the other four months. Their names have not been released.
Everyone injured in the accident is expected to recover from their injuries.
An El Paso police officer was injured in a car wreck in Central El Paso Saturday night.
At least three cars, including a patrol car were involved in the wreck on U.S. 54 northbound at the Pershing exit. It happened just before 11:15 p.m. Saturday.
El Paso police dispatch said there were no major injures.
An officer was taken to University Medical Center with minor injuries.
