Claudia Ordaz will replace Eddie Holguin on city council as the new City Representative of District 6.

Ordaz won Saturday's special election with 65.39% of the vote according to unofficial final numbers. She will complete the remainder of Holguin's term and serve on council until May 2015.

Holguin gave up his seat after an unsucessful run for El Paso County Judge earlier this year.

Michael Armstrong came in at second place in Saturday's race with 26.94% of the vote, Dick Bowen with 4.97%, and Alex Zuniga in final place with 2.71% of the vote.

According to El Paso County election records, a total of 1,596 residents in East El Paso and the Lower Valley cast a ballot, out of the 42,114 registered voters in that district.
