Unemployment benefits extended

President Obama and Congress agreed on Wednesday to extend the Emergency Unemployment Compensation Program for many Americans.

This allows claimants who had an existing claim to receive the remaining benefits in their balance.

It will also allow additional time for claimants to establish a new tier one claim.

Although Congress extended the deadlines to establish a new claim, it did not add additional weeks for claimants who have already exhausted all benefits.

When you exhaust your current benefits, the Texas Workforce Commission will notify you if you are eligible for another program.
