TX man who killed woman during 'Russian Roulette' sentenced to 28 years in prison
Longview, Texas (KETK) — A Gregg County man who was charged with the shooting death of Barbara Hudson, pleaded guilty to manslaughter, Monday, in the Gregg County 188th District Court.
According to the criminal complaint filed by investigators in his arrest, Houston killed Hudson during a game of "Russian Roulette". Houston loaded one bullet into a revolver, spun the cylinder and pulled the trigger, shooting Hudson, 39, in the back.
Debbie Garrett, the prosecuting attorney in this case, tells KETK Houston will serve 28 years in prison and is required to serve half his sentence before he is eligble for parole.
The charge would typically get Houston anywhere from two to 20 years, but the prosecution filed for enhancement based on his prior record and it was granted.
Houston addressed the family of Hudson in the courtroom and apologized for what he had done. He also acknowledged his remorse for what happened.
