Two Suspects Detained in Officer Assault

An alleged act of car vandalism by three teenagers led to the brutal beating of a an off-duty police officer Tuesday afternoon.  The victim, who confronted the teens about damage to his car, remained in critical condition as of Wednesday afternoon according to police.

The victim, a 4-year veteran of the El Paso Police Department began receiving emergency medical treatment from fire personnel after witnesses called 911, then later taken to a nearby hospital. Police said  two of the three suspects, a 17-year-old said to initially have taken down the officer, and  Alan Medrano, 19, were caught by police. The third suspect remained at large.

Medrano was charged with evading arrest and while the 17-year-old faces charges of aggravated assault.

I hope the Police Officer has a complete revovery and that the punks who vandalized his car and beat him up all get caught, thrown in jail, indicted, taken to court and experience the full force of the law.

A description of the suspect would be helpful so we can keep an eye out for him.
