UPDATE: Police have identified the victims of today's fatal car crash.

59-year-old Bernabe Perez, from Santa Theresa, was driving a white SUV with 15-year-old Jesse Maldanado, also from Santa Teresa. Police say Perez was driving in the eastbound lane when she attempted to change lanes, striking a purple sedan. The SUV then went off the road and hit a TXDOT traffic camera pole.

The driver of the sedan, 34-year-old Omar Olvera, was transported to the hospital but is expected to be ok. Perez and Maldanado, who were both wearing seatbelts, died at the scene. Neither speed nor alcohol are considered factors.

UPDATE:  The female driver of the S.U.V. and a male passenger were killed in the crash. Police have not released their names or ages.

Police say a white S.U.V. veered off the road, clipped a purple car, then hit a guardrail and flipped over.

As far as we know, no one in the car was seriously hurt.

Traffic investigators are now left trying to figure why the woman veered off the road.
