Cipriano River, 18, and Fabien Rivera, 18, were arrested for allegedly inciting a dog fight.

According to the Doña Ana County Sheriff's Department, the two men took their friend's pit bull named "Haze" to a nearby house to fight with another pit bull.

According to investigators, the other dog was tied up in a yard on Las Alturas St. when the two men released Haze, who then crawled under the fence to fight the other dog.

Neighbors called police after they heard and saw the dogs fighting.  Witnesses said they saw the two men, along with another juvenile, encouraging the dogs to fight.

The dog that was tied up is a six year-old pit pull.  It reportedly suffered more than 25 wounds in the attack and is being treated the by Doña Ana County Sheriff's Department veterinarian.  The dog will be returned to its owner after receiving treatment.

The dog named Haze belongs to Joel Ramirez who lives in the neighborhood.  Deputies said Ramirez was at work when the attack happened, but told investigators he was not upset when he found out his friends allegedly took Haze to fight the other dog.

Haze remains in the custody of the Doña Ana County Sheriff's Department.

Cipriano and Rivera are charged with dog fighting and contributing to the delinquency of a minor.  Additional charges are pending.
