Students at UTEP will be paying more for their education after all.

The UT Board of Regents voted on the tuition hike and approved it Thursday. In-state tuition will be increased by 2.2 percent, which is lower than the proposed hike of 2.6 percent.

The increase translates to about $76 for a student taking 15 credit hours. Graduate students will face a 3.6 increase.

UTEP has the lowest tuition of any resarch univeristy in Texas. The money will be used for offering new and more classes to students, investiging in student transisition programs and there is a new incentive award.

If students take 36 semester credit hours in a year, they will get a $250 credit towards next year's tuition.
