JAPAN - The Japanese Meteorological Agency has issued a tsunami warning for southern Japan and a group of islands off the coast.

The tsunami warning for the group of islands off the coast of Japan, as well as an advisory for the southern region of Japan, was given after a magnitude 7.4 earthquake was registered off the coast of the country.

This warning is for the Ogasawara Islands—30 islands of different sizes scattered along the Pacific Ocean.

The Ogasawara Islands are also known as the Bonin Islands. The agency is estimating the tsunami height to reach up to 2 meters, or 6.56 feet.

The advisory is for the southern Japanese coast.

The quake epicenter is 210 miles from Iwo Jima in the Volcano Islands, and 650 miles south from Tokyo.
