Triple A: Gas prices dropping, prices expected to continue falling
El Paso, TX (KTSM) — The average price of a gallon of gasoline is dropping, according to Triple-A.
The national average is $3.18 as of Tuesday, which is a quarter cheaper than it was a year ago and six cents cheaper than a week ago. Triple-A estimates the average cost of a gallon of gas will fall to as low as $3.10 per gallon before the end of the year.
"It definitely helps me a lot because gas is a huge part of commuting and it's a huge part of life so that definitely helps budget, a little more money to spend on fun things," said El Pasoan Bryce Lockmiller.
The average price of a cost of gasoline in El Paso is about 28-cents lower than the national average. According to the website, www.elpasogasprices.com, the average price is $2.96. The website shows the lowest price in El Paso is $2.83 both at the Costco on Gateway West and Geronimo and the Sam's Club at Gateway West and Hawkins, as well as the Sam's Club on Pellicano. Membership is required to gas up at those locations.
In Las Cruces, the average price is $2.98, according to the website, www.newmexicogasprices.com. Once again, the lowest price was $2.81 at the Sam's Club on N. Telshor Blvd. and Commerce Dr. Not far behind is $2.83 at Bradley's at both locations on El Paseo Rd.
