UPDATE: (6:45p.m.) I-10 West has re-opened to traffic, but traffic on Gateway West will remain closed until further notice. I-10 Eastbound is still closed to traffic, due to a disabled semi-truck that was struck by the downed power lines. EPPD are waiting on a tow truck to assist in moving the disabled truck before they're able to fully open I-10 East.

1,800 El Paso Electric customers are still without power at this hour.

I-10 east  is currently being shut down in both directions at this hour. I-10 eastbound is closed beginning at Executive Center and I-10 westbound is being closed at Reynolds.

A semi-truck struck a power pole along Gateway East, sending the power pole across I-10. Police are currently shutting down traffic in both directions. Motorists are encouraged to avoid I-10 entirely at this hour.

Power is also out for over over 1,800 customers in south El Paso, a crew is en route to the scene but there is no estimate as to how long it will take to re-open I-10.

Sun Metro has altered service to Routes 25, 42, 59, 70 and 75 due to the closure of I-10 near Copia.

Routes 21 and 22 are back on their regular routes, but the routes are behind schedule due to heavy traffic.

Sun Metro passengers are asked to please have patience as drivers work through the traffic.

The public is asked to please be courteous to Sun Metro’s vehicles as they make their way through the affected areas and help prevent unnecessary anxiety or accidents.

For more information about the Sun Metro fixed-route service, call (915)533-3333.
