Pedestrian struck by car in east El Paso Wednesday dies

El Paso Police say that the 59-year-old woman who was struck by a car early Wednesday morning in east El Paso died as a result of her injuries.

Luz Groescel, 59, was walking across the intersection at Lee Trevino and Edgemere when she was struck by a 1997 Ford Mustang driven by 44-year-old Edward Herrera.

According to police, Groescel was crossing the street, but Herrera had the green light and was unable to stop before he hit Groescel.

She was transported to University Medical Center where she later died. Police say that there are no charges pending in this case.
