UPDATE: TxDot confirmed that I-10 east at Porfirio Diaz is open as of 11:35.

EARLIER: El Paso Fire and Police dispatch have confirmed that a large stretch of I-10 Eastbound is closed at the Porfirio Diaz exit after a semi-truck carrying a crane smashed into the overpass at Porfirio Diaz just after 9:00 p.m. Monday night.

EPPD are currently diverting traffic off of the interstate between Executive and Porfirio Diaz. Authorities on the scene are concerned that the crane could topple over and are actively trying to secure the area.

No one was injured in the crash, but the eastbound lanes of I-10 will remain closed until crews can remove the crane and determine whether the overpass suffered any significant damage.

We will update as more information becomes available.
