El Paso Police Department has identified 33-year-old Cesar Cordova of the 300 block of San Angelo as the victim in Thursday's fatal crash on Vista Del Sol Drive in east El Paso.

EPPD's Special Traffic Investigations Unit responded to a crash at approximately 2:09 p.m. along the 10900 block of Vista Del Sol. Investigators say that a red Ford Mustang, driven by 21-year-old Francisco Lopez was traveling west on Vista Del Sol when he lost control of the mustang and traveled into the eastbound lanes of Vista Del Sol.

At the same time, Cordova, driving a 2007 Jeep Liberty, which was a Fred Loya company vehicle was traveling east and was struck by Lopez' Mustang. Lopez and Cordova were both transported to Del Sol Medical Center where Cordova died from his injuries.

Friends and loved ones of Cordova continued to send an outpouring of love and support onto social media throughout Thursday evening and Friday morning.

Investigators believe that Lopez may have been speeding at the time of the crash, but no charges have been filed against Lopez and say the investigation is ongoing. Police have not released the current medical condition of Lopez.
