Three People Injured in Early Morning Crash, El Paso Police Car Hit During Investigation

Three people were taken to the hospital following an early morning car crash in East El Paso.

It happened shortly before 2:00 a.m. Thursday on I-10 West near Yarbrough.  According to El Paso Police, the driver in a black vehicle crashed into the back of a van. 

Three people in the van were injured.  The severity of their injuries is unknown.

The driver of the black car was also taken to the hospital for a blood alcohol test to determine if he was drunk.

While police were on the scene investigating the first crash, another vehicle sped by and hit the side of a marked El Paso Police unit.

The driver side mirror and the spotlight on the police car were damaged.

The driver in the second crash did not stop.  Police chased the vehicle, described as a 4-door, Hyundai, but the driver managed to get away.
