LAS CRUCES- One by one more than two thousand students received their diplomas from New Mexico State University this afternoon.

After four years of hitting the books, graduates say its a big accomplishment and that their college experiences have helped them grow as people.

"I've been waiting for this day for a very long time and now I get to go on with life and see what I can do after college," Aundre McGaskey said.

"I say it's just some good time spent to kind of develop as person instead of jumping into a field and kind of get pushed around it just gives you time to mature," Kyle Archuleta said.

Archuleta says he plans on going to graduate school.

He hopes the extra degree will help him find a better job.

Most graduates say they are confident they will be able to find work even with the poor jobs market.
