EL PASO - You didn't have to be in Central El Paso this morning to enjoy the 75th annual Sun Bowl Parade. It aired live on Newschannel 9!

The color guard kicked off the event. Thousands lined Montana to see the floats and marching bands making their way along the nearly 3-mile route to Copia.

Newschannel 9's Oralia Ortega, Fred Albers, Chuck DeBroder and Amber Downing hosted the event. Many military members and their families also attended.

The Sun Bowl Parade is one of the top events of the year in El Paso.

For the parade to be one of the top events in El Paso, a border city with a large military community, it was devastating to see people sitting down as the American flag passed and hear our brave Border Patrol and law enforcement officers heckled. The crowd around us cheered loudly as the Viva El Paso girls flipped up their skirts inappropriately, and roared in response to a microphoned woman shouting "Viva Mexico!" Yet another point of pride for El Paso. Never again.
