The Dangers of Panhandling

A panhandler was hit by a truck Wednesday afternoon after he stepped into traffic on Montana Street, police said.

The 48-year-old man was transported to University Medical Center where he later died.

Police say this incident serves as an example of the dangers panhandlers, and those who give to them, create.

One panhandler we spoke with sees it differently.

Josh Cordess says he always stays out of the way of traffic and insists he isn't a distraction to drivers.

Police say you shouldn't give to panhandlers and you should give to organizations that help the homless instead.
