EL PASO - Extra police are on patrol this morning at Austin High School following a threatening text message.

As we reported yesterday, the message said, "Students be cautious.  Shootout to happen at Austin High School today at lunch.  Please forward to everyone on your phone.  Not a joke."

EPISD added five police officers on campus yesterday after learning of the message.

An investigation is underway to determine where the message originated.

You guys always post half the story. you don't even try to find out hey? someone thought it'd be funny to forward that as a joke but noo... you guys have to be so "journalistic" and make Austin look bad. Well guess what? things have changed Austin is TEA recognized we are a good school and don't need your lies in the media to bring us down because Panther Pride is ALWAYS right.

As always anything that happens at Austin gets reported immediately and will be reported all over the state. I hope this last incident is untrue and I pray to God that the students are safe. May the Lord bless you and keep you safe. Orion
