EL PASO - The Texas state law requiring women to look and listen to a sonogram before having an abortion is now being enforced.

The Department of State Health Services released guidelines for clinics earlier this week.

Last month, abortion providers began enforcing the new law and now they have state forms that women have to fill out before terminating their pregnancies.

Gerri Laster of Reproductive Services here in El Paso said the new law hasn't had a big impact on their agency.

"The woman is provided information and can view or hear the fertile heartbeat and can see the sonogram and the doctor explains exactly what sonogram means," Laster said.

Laster also adds that even with the new law, most of the women visiting the clinic so far haven't changed their minds about their decisions.
