Texas Parks to teach people how to camp
Thursday, October 3, 2013 - 4:50pm

National parks may be closed because of the government shutdown, but that shouldn't halt your weekend camping plans. Texas Parks and Wildlife wants you to camp at Franklin Mountains State Park this weekend, and they'll provide everything you need. It's part of the agency's Camping 101 Workshop, which strives to get people outdoors.

Park staff will show you how to camp, and will bring everything you need from stoves and lanterns to tents and mattresses. The workshop begins at 9:30 Saturday morning. It costs 65 dollars for a group of up to six people.
