Texas Governor Confirms Threat
Austin, Texas - Gov. Rick Perry's office is confirming it received a threatening letter from an anti-government group that's calling for removing governors from office.
Perry spokeswoman Allison Castle and the Texas Department of Public Safety confirmed today that a letter arrived from the group Guardians of the Free Republics.
The group says it wants to "restore America" by peacefully dismantling parts of government.
Investigators won't say when the letter arrived.
They're not releasing any other information except to say the DPS has opened a criminal investigation.
This week, dozens of governors received letters saying if they don't leave office within three days they will be removed,
according to federal documents obtained by The Associated Press.
Perry's office is closed today for Good Friday.
