An El Paso teenager did something pretty unusual Friday. She gave a $4,500 gift to a local hospital. Cynthia Reyes suffers from a life threatening medical condition that affects her kidneys. The North Texas Make-A-Wish Foundation presented her with a $4,500 check, which she decided to hand over to the Texas Tech University Health Sciences Center. The money will used for research and to hire a physician to relocate to the El Paso area. Cynthia currently has to travel out of town for many treatments. She hopes her gift will change that for other teens with kidney problems.

"This wish in particular is so important to me, so great, that I don't know if I will ever have an opportunity to do something like this again. Giving the gift of live to others, I'm really thankful to Make-A-Wish for allowing all of these things to happen for me," said Cynthia.

As part of her Make-A-Wish, Cynthia will get a chance to shadow the new physician once he or she is hired.
