Teenage driver killed, 4 others injured in overnight car crash
El Paso, TX (KTSM) — A 17-year-old teenagers was killed, and four other teens were injured in a single-car crash Sunday.
According to the El Paso County Sheriff's Office, a 16-year-old driver was traveling on Lopez Rd. in Montana Vista at 12:52 a.m. Sunday when he lost control and crashed into a brick wall. The car kept going and knocked over an electrical pole, knocking out power to a nearby neighborhood.
A 17-year-old passenger in the back seat died at the scene. Four other teenage passengers in the car were taken to the hospital, one with serious head injuries.
The five people in the car, including the victim, are all males between 16 and 17 years old. Investigators have not released their names.
So far, no charges have been filed against the driver. The El Paso Sheriff's Office said toxicology results are pending.
