Tuesday, July 12, 2011 - 6:48pm

EL PASO - School is out for students, but it's a different story for teachers in the Borderland.

More than 1500 teachers in the region registered to attend the 3rd annual education conference today, at the Plaza Theatre.

The point of the event, is for educators to learn new skills and strategies in the classroom.

"We have it free for all of our teachers to come in, and to just listen to the skills that they need to go back into the classroom, and be that effective teacher; to reconnect with our students, to get that motivation going again at the beginning of the year,"said Barbara Amaya, from the Education Service Board.

The event wrapped up around 4 p.m., today. We're told teachers from the El Paso and Hudspeth counties, Fort Davis and New Mexico, attended.
