TEA resubmits request for EPISD board of managers
AUSTIN, TX — The decision to install a board of managers to replace the El Paso I.S.D's trustees is now in the hands of the Department of Justice.
The Texas Education Agency has confirmed it resubmitted its request March 1st to temporarily remove power from the trustees and appoint five locals to head the district.
Back in December, Commissioner Michael Williams announced plans to remove the current board, due to the lack of public trust after the cheating scandal.
T.E.A. officials say it could take up to 60 days to hear back from the D.O.J. on making the appointment final.
