Canutillo Independent School District's accreditation is being investigated by the Texas Education Agency, as a result of their internal audit findings released last week, according to Board President Armando Rodriguez in a statement.

The CHS Newcomer Admission Process Audit report showed Superintendent Damon Murphy may have bumped sophomores in the limited English proficiency group up a grade mid-year to avoid them taking the state-mandated TAKS test in 2010-2011.

"The District looks forward to working with TEA to address and resolve the issues identified in the District's audit report,” said Rodriguez in his statement.

The CISD school board is in the process of suspending and terminating their contract with Superintendent Damon Murphy.
