EL PASO -- The 3rd Annual Texas Showdown Festival is bringing in thousands of El Pasoans to the County Coliseum during it's three day weekend run.

El Pasoan George Galindo started the festival three years ago in the Sun City and has seen it grow to what is now more than 200 artists from all over the world and 30 bands performing at an outdoor stage.

"We enjoy El Paso when we come back and do it," Galindo said.

Galindo said the goal of the festival is to bring in some of the best artists in the world and give the people an opportunity to have work done by some of the best.

"This is the only place you can come and get artists from all over the world in one roof," Galindo said.

It's the all the artists travelling from as far as Japan and Hawaii that help boost El Paso's economy.

"This has been quite a significant impact for the city when you're talking heads in beds of course," said Precinct 2 County Commissioner Sergio Lewis, who represents the area where the coliseum is located.

Galindo said his crew alone rented out 65 hotel rooms, in addition to the multiple car rentals and meals at El Paso restaurants.

For those getting tattoos it's about finding the right match between an artist and the work they are looking to get done.

"I met this guy and he seemed pretty cool," said Daniel Mears as he was getting a full back tattoo. "He was interested in the art I brought in and he said he could do it, so I decided to go with him."

The artist was Alfred Zaragoza all the way from the House of Pain Studio in California.

Zaragoza said the festival is an opportunity for others to see his work.

"Getting to do it in front of all these people and they get to display my art work, my technique, my style, just who I am as a person," Zaragoza said.

The festival wraps up on Sunday. Gates open at noon and close at 11pm.

Do not cut your bodies for the dead, and do not mark your skin with tattoos. I am the LORD. Leviticus 19:28, The Holy Bible.

Tattoos are on the people who didn't get the word of the Lord!
