H1N1 Targets More Children
Indictments tonight in one of El Paso's biggest murders of the year. An El Paso grand jury indicted three men including the person who pulled the trigger on Jose Gonzalez Galeana.
Fort Bliss soldier Michael Jackson Apodaca has already admitted he did the killing. He has been jailed since his August arrest.
Apodaca was part of an elaborate plot to murder Gonzelez- Galeana, who was a Juarez cartel lieutenant and ICE informant.
Also indicted, Ruben Rodriguez, suspected of hatching the plot and Christopher Duran, the accused getaway driver.
Gonzalez-Galeana was gunned down at his East El Paso home last May in what investigators think was payback for betraying the Juarez drug cartel.
The Associated Press reports that ICE has been investigated several times for bad dealings with informants and that Gonzalez- Galeana is a case in point.
The A.P. quotes El Paso police as saying ICE steered detectives away from Ruben Dorado, another informant who arranged the contract hit.
A juvenile and another man are also accused in the Gonzalez Galeana murder but have not been indicted.
