Man dies after Central EP SWAT situation

EL PASO, Texas (KTSM) - UPDATE:

Officials have confirmed that the man who was inside the home during the SWAT standoff on Carlyle Pl. earlier this afternoon has died as a result of a self-inflicted gunshot wound.

EPCSO confirmed the man's death shortly after 1:30 p.m. Wednesday afternoon. His identity was not immediately available.

 

EARLIER:

El Paso County Sheriff's Deputies are on the scene of a SWAT situation in Central El Paso at this hour.

According to a spokesperson with EPCSO, an El Paso County Constable was serving an eviction notice on a renter on Carlyle Place, just off of Trowbridge near Raynolds around 9 a.m. Wednesday morning.

While the Constable was serving the eviction, the tenant allegedly pulled out a gun on the Constable. At that time, the scene was secured and the Sheriff's Department SWAT team was brought in to assist.

At this time, authorities are working to make contact with the man inside the home. Nearby residents are asked to stay indoors while the situation is resolved. Nearby Loretto Academy is not at any risk at this time.
