Police were searching for a driver who hit a 6-year-old girl in east El Paso and kept driving.

Police said the girl ran into the street on Sea Breeze and East Glen and the SUV hit her at 5:15 p.m. Monday.

They said a woman who was driving the SUV got out, picked up the girl and moved her to the sidewalk. Then, she got back in her vehicle and took off.

Witnesses described the vehicle as a dark-colored SUV with tinted windows and the driver as a young woman.

“Special Traffic Investigators are at the scene. They are asking for the public's assistance in finding that vehicle and the driver who left. That driver is identified as a young female wearing a Dallas Cowboys tank top and possible a baseball cap,” said Darrel Petry with the El Paso Police Department.

Paramedics rushed the girl to University Medical Center with serious injuries.

Police said she lives in this neighborhood.
They’re asking the driver to come forward or if anyone has information to call police immediately.

I really hope that she is ok. Just a few questions...what was a six year old girl doing by herself in the middle of the street? Shouldn't the family get in trouble for negligence? Thank God she wasn't stolen. Lets learn from this and watch our kids more closely as they are the most precious gift we have.
