EL PASO - A teenager tried - and failed - to elude capture after putting a brick on the accelerator of his car and fleeing on foot.

El Paso police tried to pull over 19-year-old Adrian Poblano around 3:30 a.m. Monday morning for outstanding warrants for his arrest. Police said Poblano stopped his 1991 Lincoln, and as EPPD officers neared the Lincoln, Poblano drove off.

At the intersection of Mission and Yandell, police said Poblano put a brick on his accelerator and switched his car in reverse while he fled on foot. Poblano jumped rock walls in the 600 block of Mission. The Lincoln, meanwhile, rolled backwards and came to a stop on a raised curb causing no damage or injuries.

Poblano was eventually caught in the 4700 block of Yandell hiding under a vehicle.

He faces a variety of charges and is being held on a $11,700 bond.
