Survivor reflects on deadly crash one year later
El Paso, TX — It's a somber day for the family members of those killed and injured during a fiery and horrific crash exactly one year ago.
The deadly car accident claimed the lives of Kim Araujo and Idaly Reyes and severely injured two others. Last October a jury found 23 year-old Miguel Vargas guilty of two counts of intoxicated manslaughter and two counts of intoxicated assault. Vargas admitted to racing another car on Mesa that night after he and his four friends left a bar. His car crashed into a brick wall. Friday, Nefi Armendariz, one of the survivors of the wreck commented on his Facebook page. Part of it reads:
“A year ago my life completely changed. I was fighting for my life. Two wonderful ladies passed away that night. I spent two months in a coma. Forty plus surgeries and I'm here. Don't take life or anybody for granted. Life can change in a split second," said Armendariz.
