SUNLAND Park — According to officials, Sunland Park Mayor Pro-Tem Daniel Salinas and City Manager Jaime Aguilera were arrested Saturday evening on charges of extortion and conspiracy to commit extortion with tampering with evidence. 

Both are being held on a $50,000 bond. 

Authorities believe Aguilera and Salinas attempted to blackmail mayoral candidate Gerardo Hernandez by threatening a sex tape would go public if Hernandez didn't drop out of the race.

Both City Hall and Salinas' home were raided Friday morning by New Mexico State Police.
