SUNLAND PARK - The mayor will be crowning the rider and horse winners of this year's derby.

The derby will take place this Sunday at 1:30 p.m. at the Sunland Park Race Track & Casino in Sunland Park, NM.

"We are excited that this great community will be the hosting city for such a prestigious event so we'd like for all of the border community to come witness one of the races with more significance in the United States," said Mayor Martin Resendiz in a statement.
