SUNLAND PARK, NM - Sunland Park's city council had scheduled a Friday meeting to select a new mayor, but they've already canceled the meeting.

City leaders said the state's financial takeover is overwhelming city hall.

City council met last night, in a public forum that again included shouting and protests.

It was the first of several meetings they've been able to finish, but the council vote finished in a 3-3 tie for candidates Gerardo Hernandez and Javier Perea.

A new meeting to appoint a mayor has not been rescheduled.
