"Dump The Pump" Day Promotes Eco-friendly Lifestyle

Today from 6:00 am to 6:00 pm, Sun Metro will be offering free rides on its eco-friendly "Ozone Action Days" bus.
It's all part of the public transit service's "Dump The Pump" day.
Sun Metro is encouraging people to save money, protect the environment, reduce their dependence on foreign oil and improve their quality of life.
Experts say that nearly 80% of El Pasoans drive to work alone and only 11% carpool.
The Sun Metro director says the economy is also a big reason for the event and hopes promoting public transportation will help jumpstart the economy.
Experts say for every one dollar invested in public transportation, six dollars are generated in economic returns.
They also say public transportation helps save families around $10,000 a year.
