A new study finds that the “math is for boys” stereotype is ingrained in some girls as early as grade 2.

Researchers from the University of Washington followed 247 children in schools in the Seattle area.

The study included students from grades one to five. They were asked to sort words into categories on a computer.

In the math-gender stereotype test, children sorted words together. And as early as the second grade, some children linked boys' names with math words, and girls' names with reading words.
