No Joke, It Was Like A Scene Out Of 'Jurassic Park'

SYDNEY, AUSTRALIA— Students in Sydney had a roaring good time Friday after they met a robotic baby T-Rex.

The 7-foot-tall baby T-Rex bounded in at the school to promote a national tour of the animatronic show “Walking with Dinosaurs.” The kids froze in fear and some smalls screams erupted until they realized the dinosaur wasn't real. Nearly 350 students were waiting for what they thought was a talk about the show when they were surprised.

The technician operating the T-Rex approached the students and let them pet the fake dino. The little T-Rex blinked its eyes, purred, and even roared.

“Walking with Dinosaurs” is the creation of a small Australian production company called Global Creatures. The show was an international hit with box-office earnings of $350 million and is returning to Australia for the first time.

The show uses 20 mechanical dinosaurs in a blend of educational information and special effects that also includes a 36-foot-tall, 56-foot-long Brachiosaurus. The realistic look and sound of the dinosaurs is one of the show's attractions.
