El Paso, Texas (KTSM) — One of the state's most difficult mountain bike races will be held in El Paso this Sunday.
In its seventh year of existence, the el Paso Puzzler Endurance Mountain Bike Race is drawing riders from throughout the United States who are willing to test both their mental and physical toughness.
The race starts on the north east side of the Franklin Mountain State Park and does a complete circuit of the Franklin Mountains north of Transmountain Drive with the riders doing over 6,000 feet of climbing.
The Puzzler has three categories: 13 miles, 35 miles and 50 miles. The 50-mile race does a complete loop around the mountain and then another 15 miles loop on the east side of the Franklins.
It is expected to take the winner around 5 hours to finish the 50-mile race. The Borderland Mountain Bike Association, a non-profit group that promotes mountain biking and outdoor recreation in the El Paso area, is hosting the event.
