State Pays for Cleanup Projects in Sparks
Starting this summer, trash, tires and illegal dump sites littering the Sparks Colonia area will be cleaned up.
The state has just awarded $73,000 to Keep El Paso Beautiful.
That money will be used to pay for a 6-month community cleanup project with the help of local volunteers.
Keep El Paso Beautiful will start recruiting volunteers next month at Sparks, Horizon and America High School.
Organizers say people living in Sparks have been complaining about the health and safety hazards of the trash in their community for years.
