In an effort to fight homelessness, the Obama administration is giving millions of dollars to state programs focused on helping people who don't have a place to live.
Today, the Housing and Urban Development Department (HUD) awarded $64.7 million for 240 homeless programs in Texas, like homeless shelters, job training and health care services. The aid is aimed at making sure that programs for the homeless remain open through 2012.
El Paso County, which has a homeless population of about 1,400 people, is receiving $2.6 million for its facilities.
