AUSTIN, TX - Thousands are expected to gather at the state capitol building in Austin to urge lawmakers to take a stand and save our state.

Specifically, protesters will meet with legislators to demand that the state budget reflect the priorities of Texans that funds education, services for the elderly and families and treats the workers of the state with respect and dignity.

The Texas State Employees Union in coordination with Texas Forward, a coalition of organizations seeking a balanced approach to a balanced budget, organized the event that will bring thousands of people from over 70 cities in Texas.

On Sunday, the Texas House passed a budget that cut billions of dollars from education, healthcare, social services, public safety and mental health.
