Sheriff's deputies say the desert area behind the Socorro Activity Center is not safe and Socorro Independent School District plans to warn students before spring break.
Last month a girl was hit in the leg by a stray bullet and two years ago, 14 year-old Thelma Fierro died after she was also shot there. In both cases the shooters were never found.
Now the sheriff's department says it's stepping up patrols in the area and just recently arrested a few kids for drinking.
A spokeswoman for SISD says all high school student will reminded about the recent shootings and urged to avoid the are.
