Special election date set to fill El Paso city council seat
El Paso, Texas (KTSM) — Texas Governor Rick Perry has set a date for a special election to fill a soon to be vacant city council seat.
Eddie Holguin resigned as District 6 Council representative last year to run for county judge, but has been allowed to keep his seat until a special election can be held.
That election will now take place on July 19th.
Holguin lost in county judge race. He has represented District 6 which includes some of East El Paso and the Lower Valley since 2005.
