SIERRA COUNTY, NM - Last year, earth movers were busy at the Spaceport groundbreaking in Sierra County.

Now, the focus shifts a little higher, to space vehicles.

A ceremony will be held today to mark the completion of the first runway at Spaceport America, the world's first purpose-built commercial spaceport.

The goal is to have Sir Richard Branson's Virgin Galactic Ship Two carry civilian astronauts from the two-mile long runway.
