EL PASO -- A Southwest Airlines flight from Houston to Phoenix was diverted to El Paso Wednesday.

The flight landed safely just before 5 p.m.

A spokesperson for Southwest said the flight was diverted after an electrical smell was detected in the cabin.

Passengers on board were switched to another plane and sent on their way to Phoenix.

The spokesperson said the original aircraft is being ferried to Dallas to be inspected.
