EL PASO- A new idea could have all cars heading into Mexico be subject to customs checks, leaving many asking questions about possible delays and traffic buildup on the U.S. side.

Millions of dollars might be spent to re-work the current border crossings.  NewsChannel 9 will explore the topic today, and bring you the latest tonight.

Long past due. This would help the ever-constant problem of stolen vehicles making their way to Mexico, but would also reduce the funding of money and weapons to the cartels. Confiscated drug money headed to Mexico could probably fund the initiative alone. Politicians talk about securing the border and getting tough on the "war on drugs" but something this simple and logical seems to elude them!
