Ft Bliss Sergeant, Private Tour El Paso Hospital
El Paso — On this particular day of the calendar when El Paso respectfully comes almost to a stop--car dealerships with no sales, many restaurants locked, retail stores closed until tomorrow.... real life was still happening at places like El Paso Childrens Hospital. In real life, children are badly hurt, they become very sick sometimes with no explanation, and with little comfort to themselves or their familes.Fortunately, in this same life, there are people who do simple but angelic work...people like Sgt William Green of Massachusetts and Private Kevin Miller from California...giving to those same children what they can...not a bill of health, but a kind word, and their choice of a Christmas gift.
Sgt Green tells us, "The kids definitely enjoy it, it makes them feel a little bit better, and it makes me feel better about the holidays as well"
Private Miller adds, "It's easy to lose track of what Christmas is all about and when we come here and hand out the gifts, they don't say much and don't talk to us much, but the look on their face kind of reminds you what Christmas is all about."
At just such a time, we're reminded that in this life, bad things can happen to good people, and at the same time, good people, sometimes people who have seen the worst of humanity, bring humanity to a children's hospital ward.
